Shafaq Zia is a nonprofit executive with more than a decade of experience helping mission-driven organizations strengthen their impact through strategic leadership, organizational development, and effective governance.
She began her career in international development at Blumont, where she supported USAID and U.S. Department of State programs across Iraq and Syria while contributing to new business efforts that secured more than $25 million in funding. She later joined Penny Appeal USA, where she helped build the organization’s Programs Department and eventually served as Chief Programs Officer, overseeing humanitarian and development initiatives across 15 countries.
Shafaq is excited to join American Muslim Health Professionals (AMHP) as the Executive Director, where she is focused on strengthening the organization’s impact, expanding opportunities for Muslim healthcare professionals, and advancing initiatives that improve the health and well-being of communities across the country.
In addition to her executive leadership, Shafaq serves as Co-Chair of the Board of HEART Women & Girls. She holds an Executive Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Georgetown University and is currently pursuing a Master of Public Administration at George Mason University.
