With a background in healthcare management, Reema aims to bridge the communication barriers between healthcare professionals and their patients through outreach programs, particularly in underserved communities. In her previous role as a manager of nurse practitioners who treated infectious diseases in hospitals and nursing homes across the Chicagoland area, she identified several areas of concern that have impacted the health of patients, one of the primary issues being a lack of education.
Reema studied Neuroscience, earning a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). Previously on a pre-med track, she has always had a passion for healthcare and improving the quality of life for all. During her time at UIC, she served as an executive board member of the Health Oriented Latino Association (HOLA), where she organized and supervised volunteer events, including a blood donation drive, food drives for impoverished communities in Chicago, and assistance for people with disabilities and mental health needs. She has led meetings and facilitated group workshops for students on vital signs, CPR training, and first aid.
In 2017, she went on a medical mission trip to Costa Rica, where she learned about their public healthcare system. She created educational materials and taught local citizens and students about topics such as chronic diseases, sex education, and various social issues. As an active member of the Orland Park Prayer Center, where she currently teaches the youth, her focus at AMHP is to develop an educational program that shares healthcare information and resources throughout the Chicagoland area.
