Mamun Rahman is a mental health resilience expert at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH). As the Implementation Manager of a groundbreaking mental health promotion initiative for AANHPI communities that Mamun authored, he has showcased unparalleled dedication to improving community well-being. Amidst the challenges of COVID-19, Mamun served as Regional Director for citywide vaccination clinics. Over the past seven years, his primary commitment has been teaching weekly Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) classes on Rikers Island, New York City’s jail system. These sessions, focusing on suicide prevention for both officer and the incarcerated population, underscore Mamun’s impact on the mental health landscape of justice impacted populations.
