Arshia Wajid is the Founder and Board Member of American Muslim Health Professionals. She was recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Health, Xavier Becerra, as top 15 women in the nation for her extraordinary leadership in 2023. In 2015, she was selected as one of 14 American-Muslim leaders to a private roundtable at the White House with former President, Barack Obama, to discuss the challenges facing Muslim health professionals. During the height of the pandemic, she cofounded the National Muslim Taskforce for Covid-19 and coordinated webinars for the American-Muslim community with the world’s leading Infectious Diseases expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci.
Arshia received a master’s degree in Business Administration and Public Health from the University of Illinois and fellowship in Hospital Administration at Stony Brook University Hospital. She is a seasoned Healthcare Executive with nearly 20 years of experience contributing to transformational journeys for many top healthcare organizations, including Northwestern Medicine, Franciscan Health, Rush University System, Advocate Health and Huron Consulting. She has a proven record of accomplishments in clinical operations, program development, public health, process improvement, non-profit management and project management.
Arshia’s personal interest in global health has led her to volunteer with medical relief missions in Haiti, Bangladesh, India, Jordan and Ecuador. She is a recipient of the 2018 Muslim Women’s Alliance Inspiring Woman Award and the 2022 Indian American Medical Association’s President Appreciation Award. She has been featured in Chicago Sun-Times, CBS Chicago News, and the U.S. Department of State’s ShareAmerica platform.
Arshia drives her inspiration for her activism from her faith which places huge importance on serving humanity. During her spare time, she likes to travel internationally, run 5K’s and spend time with family. Arshia can be reached at awajid@amhp.us
