We organized our first-ever National Public Health
Conference at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, which attracted attendees from across the country and left them inspired and motivated to support public health initiatives in their local communities. We partnered with Khalil Center to host a Mental Health First Responder Certification Training event in Chicago and the overwhelming response encouraged us to lay the groundwork for our 2019 Mental Health First Aid Certification Program.
In the area of advocacy, we created two unique peer reviewed resources which can be used by our members to continue fighting for the most vulnerable in our
communities: Advocacy Khutbah Guide and a Healthcare Advocacy Toolkit. Following our 2017 National Interfaith Anti-Bullying Summit, we partnered with the Institute for Social Policy and Understanding (ISPU) to publish an important report that provides insights and recommendations for educators, policy makers and activists.
In the following pages, you’ll see a snapshot of our activities organized by our three focus areas – professional development, mental health and advocacy. You will also see networking events organized by members in various cities, in alignment with our objective to bring together and strengthen the impact of Muslim professionals.
Sustained change can only be accomplished through your continuous encouragement and support. We appreciate your every effort in support of AMHP’s mission to improve the health and wellness of all Americans!
