Our ongoing experience with the pandemic has shown the impact of public health policy on our daily lives and livelihood. AMHP has been vigilant about the critical need for appropriate health policy solutions to the COVID-19 crisis since the start of this pandemic. Our focus has been centered on advocating for public health legislation such as increasing PPE, increased testing, supporting quarantine measures, protections for health professionals and improved access to health services with an emphasis on minority populations. To bring about these changes, AMHP has been collaborating with partner organizations to engage with government officials and promote civic engagement through advocacy trainings and connecting Muslim health professionals to their Senate representatives.
AMHP joined a meeting organized by Islamic Relief USA with the U.S. Surgeon General, Dr. Jerome Adams, and subsequently supported the Department of Health and Human Services to organize a Public Service Announcement on COVID vaccines with Imam Magid and Dr. Jerome Adams. We recognize the complex issues related to the pandemic and have been relentless in our efforts to support public health solutions to end this crisis.
