Virtual Youth MHFA Session – March 18, 2023

American Muslim Health Professionals is hosting a virtual Youth Mental Health First Aid Certification Training session for adults age 18 or older who are interested in learning how to recognize signs of mental illness or substance use challenges in youth, how to offer and provide initial help, and how to guide a person toward appropriate care if necessary. Similar to how CPR training helps a layperson assist an individual following a heart attack, MHFA teaches non-mental health professionals how to give first aid to individuals experiencing a mental health crisis and/or who are in the early stages of a mental health disorder.

Participants who complete all required components of the MHFA certification process will receive a certificate awarded by the National Council for Mental Well-Being. This certification is valid for 3 years, and participants can cite their MHFA-certification status in a CV/Resume and/or their LinkedIn profile.

NOTE #1: Prior to your session, all participants who register for this training session must agree to complete the individualized pre-coursework modules on the MHFA Connect platform. This required component is referenced repeatedly during the live session. Please allow 1-2 business days after your registration to obtain MHFA Connect access. If you do not receive your access information after 1-2 business days, or you have trouble accessing your account, please email operations@amhp.us

NOTE #2: Due to requirements set by the National Council for Mental Well-Being, Youth and Adult MHFA live training sessions WILL NOT be recorded for future viewing. We ask that you please register only if you can attend the entirety of the training session. The training session time period includes breaks for both lunch and prayer.

NOTE #3: To maximize engagement with the material, we ask that you please turn your cameras on for this session. By participating in this session and having your camera on, you consent to being filmed or photographed by AMHP and acknowledge the potential use of your image for AMHP’s archival and promotional use.

Please see flyer above for more information. If you have any questions, please contact operations@amhp.us

Note: The National Council for Mental Well-Being, which provides the curriculum for the evidence-based MHFA training, values the Adult/Youth MHFA trainings at $170 per person. With access to care being a central value of ours, AMHP strives to lower the cost of MHFA as much as possible, while being culturally responsive by maintaining a team of MHFA-certified instructors who are representative of the Muslim community. We thank Anisha and Sajid Patel for their support in partially funding this upcoming session.

To ensure our instructors have a final list of participants in a timely manner, refund requests will not be processed after Thursday March 16.
