AMHP Webinar with CDC on NHANES!

American Muslim Health Professionals (AMHP) is excited to announce our endorsement and support for the 2023 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES)*, the most comprehensive survey of the health and nutritional status of the U.S. population!
This year, Orange County, CA is one of the 15 counties selected to be part of this initiative, and the survey will be implemented in the county from January 6, 2023 onward. In collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for NHANES at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Dr. Tony Nguyen, AMHP hosted a webinar for community-based organizations in Orange County to bridge community leaders directly to NHANES leadership, discuss the survey in detail, and highlight the important role that trusted community leaders play in encouraging community members to participate in this process, and ultimately ensure the success of this nationally representative survey.
During the webinar, Dr. Nguyen also engaged in a candid and open discussion with community leaders, answered questions surrounding NHANES, and expressed his appreciation for the valuable feedback shared by community leaders, and their commitment to supporting this effort.
We thank all the community organizations that participated in the webinar, Dr. Nguyen, and AMHP Board member, Dr. Almaas Shaik, for being part of this effort in Orange County, CA.
It is important for our communities to be represented and participate in this survey. AMHP strongly supports this study, which will significantly impact the health of the nation and our community, and encourages the participation of community members who have been selected for the survey.

*The National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) has been in existence since 1960 and has provided valuable information for more than 50 years on the prevalence of major diseases, risk factors for diseases, and the relationship between nutrition and overall health of all people living in the United States. It is a major program of the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS). NCHS is part of and is responsible for producing vital health statistics for the Nation.
