Dr. Shareef Elnahal

Dr. Shareef Elnahal, Under Secretary for Health at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) 

Dr. Elnahal was nominated by President Biden and confirmed by the United States Senate on July 21, 2022. As the Under Secretary for Health, Dr. Elnahal oversees the delivery of care to more than 9 million enrolled Veterans. Prior to this role, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer of University Hospital in Newark, NJ from 2019 -2022, leeding the University Hospital through the COVID-19 public health emergency. Dr. Elnahal previously served as VA’s assistant deputy under secretary for health for quality, safety and value from 2016–2018. During that time he co-founded the VHA Innovation Ecosystem, which focused on sharing best practices to improve veteran care.

Rev. Dr. Que English

Rev. Dr. Que English, Director of the Center for Faith-Based & Neighborhood Partnerships (The Partnership Center), Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) 

Rev. Dr. Que English joined the HHS Partnership Center from the State of New York where she served as the Deputy Director of Faith-Based Initiatives for the Governor’s Office of Faith and Community Development Services. Here she identified opportunities to build relationships with the faith-based community, and was instrumental in forming the faith-based office in the Office of the Mayor of New York City. Rev. Dr. English is also the Founder and past President of Not On My Watch, an organization formed to combat human trafficking and domestic violence through education, training, and advocacy and was named 1 of 25 Most Influential Women in the Bronx.
